The kids made some awesome boxes at home to keep their cards in. They had fun passing out their valentines and playing games.
We celebrated the 100th day of school and made hats to wear that said 100 days smarter across the front. Good job, first graders, you are a great class and so smart! One activity the students did was lick and tally how many licks it takes to get to the center of a lollipop. The kids were so quiet except for all the slurping! 🙂
The kids are learning about the tens place and ones place in 2 digit numbers. In this activity, the kids are paired up and they each roll 3 times. The number they roll each time is how many snap cubes they hook together. They do this together and build a long train of snap cubes. After the 3rd roll each, they break apart the snap cube train into groups of tens (the cubes left over after this are the ones). Then, they count the tens and ones and write the number.
